Testing season is upon us, and I wanted to make sure to remind you that Co:Writer and Snap&Read are allowed as accommodations on PARCC. However, there are a few things to be mindful of:
- Accommodations used for testing must be documented in a student's IEP or 504 plan
- Accommodations for EL students must be documented
- Any accommodations used for testing should be part of the students' daily programming (nothing new on test day)
- Accommodations should be monitored for effectiveness (if they aren't using Co:Writer to help throughout the year, then it's not going to do much good during testing. See below for a reminder about how to look at student data on Co:Writer and Snap&Read).
- Log in to your Educator Dashboard account (educatordashboard.com)
- Select "Accommodate"
- Select Co:Writer and/or Snap&Read (depending on which accommodation you need)
- Search for your students (they're arranged alphabetically by FIRST name)
- To the right of their names will be a row of icons that looks like this:
Select the lock icon to set them in testing mode. You'll get a pop-up asking if you want to turn on testing mode. Make sure PARCC is selected, then turn on. When testing is over, don't forget to take them out of testing mode!
Another reminder about testing time. Please make sure ahead of time that the device your student will be using for testing has Co:Writer/Snap&Read installed. If you need any help installing, please let me know. I'm happy to help!
I mentioned above that there would be a reminder about how to monitor student data on Co:Writer and Snap&Read.

- Log into your Educator Dashboard account (educatordashboard.com)
- Select "Monitor"
- Select Co:Writer or Snap&Read
- Find your student (alphabetical by FIRST name)
- When you select your student, it will give you the following data:
Above: How many words they've written and the amount of time they've spent writing.
Above: Types of words they've used. When you click on "More Info" under each category, a popup will appear with a list of specific words they've used in their writing and a list of those words they haven't used to help drive instruction/intervention. Snap&Read will provide similar looking data about the amount of time the student has spent reading and the readability level of the text they've read.
If you need any help setting up accommodations, or implementing Co:Writer/Snap&Read with your students, please let me know!
